Długa Street and Długi Targ Street together form the Royal Route, they are the most representative street in Gdańsk. They run perpendicular to the Motława River. Długa Street begins with the Golden Gate and ends right behind the Long Market – the Green Gate.
Long Market in Gdańsk has always been inhabited by the wealthiest citizens of the city. The beautiful tenement houses were inhabited by merchants, patricians, as well as people holding high office positions.
The oldest tenement houses on the Long Market date back to the Middle Ages, but most of the buildings date back to the last century.
